Donation is Sadaqa!
Edhi foundation is a worldwide network working for social welfare by leaps and bounds to serve humanity. This step was taken by Pakistan’s most philanthropic person Edhi Sb. himself. When he started this, he’d nothing; no money, no workers to help him in his work, no established pharmacies to help the ill people, no ambulances to take patients to the emergencies, no enough food to feed the poor, no enough space to give shelters to homeless, no enough education to start this big enough step, but, except one thing; Faith.
He started to work for humanity at a very small age, meaning he’d no previous such experience to work for people. He worked as a laborer, a newspaper seller, a milkman, a compounder, as a donation collector standing on the roads for whole day to collect money to build a pharmacy to help the poor with illness. He is also called, the richest poor man.
I volunteered to work as a donation collector for Edhi Foundation. I got this inspiration and courage from #amalacademy -one of the leading career guide platform for youth.
And to be very honest and if grateful, I’ll say, this was my life’s best ever experience. It has taught me a lot. It gave me courage first of all, to come out of my comfort zone. It helped me to motivate people for donation. It also helped me to use my links like; friends family and other social figures and ask them to contribute for the fortune of the needy.
For this activity, I approached people by personally texting, motivating and asking them for donation. Although, this wasn’t easy at all, but, as I was voluntarily doing this, so, it gave me energy to spend time on it and also it taught me to be patient and be a humble communicator as well.
Initially, I was discouraged by people’s non-positive response to this activity. I was disappointed as no one was willing to donate any amount. Then I thought to make a motivating and heart touching prompt and also I made a poster for this purpose to make them realize and believe that, it wasn’t fake but your funds will truly go to Edhi Foundation.
This activity really helped me to face failures openly and accept that, every bad experience is needed for an experience to be made and each experience will help us to have good experiences as well.
